Definitions:

As an ELECTRICITY SOURCE

• Electric power generated by using sunlight either to create electron flow in a photovoltaic cell or to heat a fluid that is used in the operation of an engine or turbine-generator.

• Energy derived directly from the sun. Passive solar heating involves the design of homes and other buildings to make full use of direct sunlight for heating purposes. Houses can be designed with large windows in the south facing walls and small windows in the north facing walls, reducing the need for other heating sources such as electricity or fossil fuels.
